In this review we’ll talk about the Waterpik cordless plus water flosser WP-450, and debunk some myths around it. I was ambivalent about purchasing this in line with the reviews which I read.
I’ll say in advance I don’t have a Waterpik that sits on my counter top and connects to the wall socket. I had one once and will certainly not own one again. You pull on the hose and the unit travels across the counter. I found that I like the cordless ones far better.

I heartily recommend the WP-450 Waterpik Cordless Plus Water Flosser should you be looking for a cordless (not Travel sized) dental water jet. This is without doubt better then the old but nonetheless selling WP-360.
If I experience any issues with the Waterpic Cordless Plus Water Flosser WP-450 I’ll amend this review. I simply cannot understand all these bad negative reviews. When the unit was so bad why wouldn’t it be the number seller when I purchased it? No I don’t work for Waterpic but I have tried personally their products for a long time and also have not had that many problems which is why I suppose they’re still number 1 in Oral Irrigator sales.
Waterpic Cordless Plus Water Flosser WP-450 – Conclusion
A lot of people carry on on about the old WP-360 batteries not holding a charge. I believe many people probably keep the unit charger plug in whilst not in use. This can lead to what is called a memory problem with Ni-Cad batteries. Ni-Cad batteries should not be keep on a continuous charge as that will lead to the memory problem mentioned. It is best to have Ni-Cads discharge totally after which recharge them. L-Ion / NiMH batteries don’t are afflicted by this issue which i know of, however it is always better to only charge any battery after it loses its charge. Continuous charging on batteries will lead to shorten battery.It would appear that the issue using the old WP-360 was the fact that the charger contacts on the front would get water inside regardless of how careful one was and also the metal in the charger was not the same as the metal that took the charger. What I observed about the WP-360 was dissimilar metal corrosion. What I observed on this new water jet was the charger contact is now enclosed in plastic and it has been moved to the rear of the system where their is less chance of water getting in to the charger contacts.
I’ve to wonder what you really are using this for. I personally use mine to take away the food particles in the gums and between teeth. When things stop coming out of the mouth am done. My dentist says I’ve the very best gums of any patient he’s in his practice and that I just use my Waterpik cordless plus water flosser once a day before bed.
The reservoir is so small it empties before you are prepared to stop utilizing it. It ought to be a minimum of 2 1/2 times the size.
I haven’t observed this issue. My Waterpik cordless plus water flosser’s tips stays right where it should.
Very bad. Problem is the tip won’t stay fixed, it keeps rotating, therefore it sprays water everywhere but your teeth.
You have to be kidding. The Waterpik cordless plus water flosser has two settings and is way better then the WP-360 and about the same pressure as the Panasonic model. Are you certain it is charged up?
Weak water stream
Well it is not touted as a travel water jet just a cordless one to use at home. The Panasonic however is really a true Travel/Portable unit as advertised.

I don’t know how you are able to say that. I fill my units up to max and also the new Water Jet holds twice the total amount of water then your WP-360. Also I had to use a paper cup the fill that old WP-360

Yes that is usually the case for older models. They often do cost less than newer models since the cost of production is higher than in years past. It is actually 61.4 % higher in cost. That old unit uses Ni-Cad batteries as the new one uses more costly L-Ion or NiMH batteries hence the larger cost and also the L-Ion battery holds a charge longer.
Expensive, Poor Value: Price is ~70% greater than the WP-360
I’ve only charged my unit for 8 hours and also have used once a day for a month. I hasn’t slacked off one bit in pumping water out.
Poor battery, long charge time, no charge indicator. After two uses I needed to recharge! (yes I allow it to charge up initially for 16 hours!).
I believed the Waterpik cordless plus water flosser was well ergonomically designed. I’ve nerve damage in my hand which makes it hard to hang on to things and get tops off of bottles but I’d not a problem holding the WP-450 Ultra. It is most excellent!
It is badly designed, too big, and hard to hold (Can’t imagine what happens to those who have small hands).

The tip is so mobile (rotates everywhere), you cannot manage it.
Maybe this user has a leak in his unit. I personally use my Waterpik Cordless Plus Water Flosser for around 30 seconds until all food is removed and I still have half of the water left. And yes I’m using the High pressure setting.
The reservoir is so small it runs out in about 10 seconds.
Yes I suppose it is loud since it is near your ear while you use it! However it’s not that loud to me (i.e. I’m a bit hard of hearing) My woman says it is not too loud and she has great hearing
The Waterpik Cordless Plus Water Flosser is so loud it’ll wake anyone sleeping. Coffee grinder loud!
So despite reading the reviews on the new Waterpik Cordless Plus Water Flosser I purchased one. For the life of me I could not realise why there are a lot of negative and mediocre reviews on this unit. But I figure it couldn’t be that bad since it was the main seller of cordless water jets. This is a little contrast and compare about the reviews and my unit the WP-450 Waterpik Cordless Plus Water Flosser.
Then I bought the Panasonic EW-1270AC. It was acceptable for travel however it had a lot of problems such as the water cap always falling off, water leaking out whenever you needed to store it in the suitcase(always had to ensure that it stays in a zip loc bag to avoid the remaining water which was ever present even after emptying in sink), the tip always falling on the ground since the way it was to be stored must have held the tip better. A lot of germs on the ground. As well the batteries weren’t rechargeable.

I’ve owned the Waterpik WP-360W. It had been OK however the battery virtually had to be charged each week if used daily. It held just enough water to get the job done, it was difficult to fill with water underneath the bathroom sink and I got about 3 years use from this before unit stop charging due to corrosion where the charger connects to the system(The reason being water spills on the connection).
